Chandigarh (Aaj Samaj)In Ludhiana, Punjab, creating a ruckus while sitting on top of a moving Thar has proven costly for the car owner. A Thar running on the road and some youngsters sitting on it were doing stunts. A video of youths roaming the city streets sitting on Thar went viral on social media. The video is from the South City area of the metropolis. The video reached the police and the police commissioner took action and found out the address of Thar’s owner, went to the house and gave the tax challan receipt.
The young man held his head at this. Because he didn’t think the police would come to the house. He also warned that it should not create fuss in future, otherwise stricter action could be taken. A few days ago, a video of some youths sitting on top of a Thar, creating a ruckus on the streets of the metropolis, went viral. Some songs have been added in the background of the video. After the video surfaced, in-charge zonal sub-inspector Rupinder Singh of the traffic police obtained the address of Thar’s owner based on his number and issued a challan to the youth for dangerous driving, without a seat belt and without a driving licence.
The youth resides in Durgapuri, near Haibowal. In this challan, RTA will charge fine depending on the violation. This is not the first video of car rampage and racing in the city. Many videos have gone viral before this. About 3 months ago, a video of some youth racing cars surfaced in South City area of Ludhiana. At the same time, action was taken against a youth from Hargobind Neela Jhanda Road who flashed police lights and horn on a Thar car.
The traffic police have specially created a social media team that continuously monitors Facebook and other social media platforms. Police are taking action against those who disobey traffic rules.
