This information was provided by Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav. This is the second remand case in which the PIT-NDPS. Orders have been issued under Section 3 of the Act.

Under this section, the government is empowered to impose preventive detention on drug traffickers to prevent them from engaging in illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. It may be noted that a month ago, the Punjab Police had executed the order to arrest a known drug peddler named Avtar Singh alias Tari from Shahoor Kalan, a border village in Gurdaspur district, for two years using a special section under the PIT-NDPS Act. .I took it.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said that during investigation it was revealed that Gurdeep Singh alias Rano Sarpanch had links with international smugglers, who have been identified as Harminder Singh alias Romi Randhawa, Rajan Sharma, Tanveer Bedi and Baljeet Singh alias Babu Kheda. He said the competent authority has frozen the illegally acquired property of accused Gurdeep Singh worth Rs 7.80 crore. He said seven cases have been registered against the accused Gurdeep Singh under the NDPS Act.

He was involved in a cross-border drug trafficking ring with Pakistani smugglers. According to information, the STF Ludhiana Range had registered a case under NDPS Act against accused Gurdeep Singh and other co-accused in October 2020, in which 31 kg, 418 grams of heroin, 6 kg of amphetamine were seized , 2 kg of chemical powder and five luxury vehicles were recovered. Apart from this, another case was registered against him in November 2020, in which 5.7 kg of heroin, 400 grams of opium, three pistols, one revolver, two rifles, 12 luxury vehicles and money from the police were recovered. drugs worth Rs 50.24 lakh.

The DGP said that the accused Gurdeep Singh has been detained for one year under the PIT-NDPS Act and has been shifted from Kapurthala Central Jail to Bathinda Central Jail. It is worth mentioning that in the coming days, Punjab Police will implement more preventive detention orders to strictly punish smugglers involved in drug trafficking.
