Focus on increasing HF breed cows and their milk production capacity: Khuddis
Punjab (Aaj Samaj) News Update, Chandigarh: State Agriculture and Livestock Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian said that the state government will take important steps in the coming times to increase the milk production capacity of the state. Giving information in this regard, the Livestock Minister said that milk production in the state is much less than the demand for milk. Due to which people produce milk with dangerous chemicals and sell it in the market.
So they are making huge profits but they are playing with people’s health. The Livestock Minister said that the Punjab Government will soon start a project to identify high-quality Holstein Friesian (HF) breed cows and find out their milk production capacity to incentivize the dairy sector.

The project will start with Rs 5.31 crore.
Sharing information about this project costing Rs 5.31 crore, Minister of Livestock, Dairy Development and Fisheries Gurmeet Singh Khuddian said that this project will be started in the first week of December 2024. In this framework, with the With the help of the project supervisor and the Livestock Department staff, identification of eligible HF breed cows and a record of their milk production capacity will be prepared. He informed that during financial years 2024-25 and 2025-26, the milk production capacity of around 13,000 HF breed cows will be recorded in 90 villages of Ludhiana, Moga and Fatehgarh Sahib.
Farmers will produce milk from these selected cows normally at their homes. During this time, a milk logger will be installed that will collect milk production data with the help of GPS-enabled smart weighing forks. This data will be automatically uploaded to the national database, which will be available to farmers, government agencies and other stakeholders across the country.
