The Weather Department believes help may be available in the next two to three days.
Punjab (Aaj Samaj), Chandigarh Weather Update: The air condition in the state is continuously deteriorating due to pollution. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), due to the increase in pollution to dangerous levels, the Air Quality Index (AQI) of Mandi Gobindgarh was recorded at 322 and that of Amritsar at 310. There may be relief from the wind after the next two or three
According to the Meteorological Department, currently the people of Punjab will not get a respite from fog and smog. There is a possibility of wind blowing after the next two to three days, only after which there may be some relief from the fog. A dense fog alert has been issued in some places in Punjab for Thursday and Friday. As residents of the state battle dangerous levels of pollution, cases of stubble burning by farmers are still being recorded.
On Wednesday, 509 new cases of stubble burning were recorded. With this the total number so far has reached 7621. A maximum of 91 to 91 cases of stubble burning were reported in Firozpur and Faridkot districts on Wednesday. It may be noted that the main cause of pollution in the state is the burning of crop residues by farmers. No government effort has been successful in stopping farmers from burning waste. Therefore, the pollution problem in the state has worsened this year.
