Suspension order for police in UP

According to sources, the Election Commission has ordered the suspension of some police officers for violating guidelines regarding monitoring of voters and preventing them from voting. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajeev Kumar has directed UP election officials to ensure fair and smooth voting process.

Vote in three other states too

Voting is underway today on 15 assembly seats from four states, including Uttar Pradesh, which have fallen vacant. Along with UP, by-elections are being held in Uttarakhand (one seat), Punjab (four seats) and Kerala (one seat). Apart from this, people are using their franchise in Nanded Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra.

Voting for 38 assembly seats in Jharkhand

Voting for the second phase of assembly elections in Jharkhand will take place on Wednesday. In the second round, 38 seats in 12 districts of the state will be voted on. According to the data up to 1:00 p.m., 47.92 percent of the voting was recorded in 38 seats. In the second phase, in which the elections will be held on Wednesday, 66.94 percent voted in 2019. With the second phase of voting, the fate of the 1,211 candidates competing in these elections will be sealed in the EVMs. Dhanbad and Giridih districts have the maximum number of six seats each and voting will be held on Wednesday. The least voting occurs in one seat each in Hazaribagh and Ramgarh districts.
