The gang of robbers was exposed during famous storyteller Pradeep Mishra’s Shiv Mahapuran Katha in Varanasi. The police have arrested 15 thieves from this gang. Two gold chains and nine mangalsutras worth approximately Rs 10 lakh have been recovered from them. The captured women are residents of different districts of Purvanchal and Bihar.

According to information, storyteller Pradeep Mishra has been reciting the story of Shiva Mahapuran for the past few days in Domari area of ​​Varanasi. A large number of devotees gathered to hear the story. During this period, incidents of chains and mangalsutra being stolen from women’s necks began to increase. Taking these incidents seriously, the police launched an investigation.

During the operation, a woman belonging to the Chorni gang was captured, according to whose information 14 other women were detained. Police said these women are experts in stealing jewelery from people’s necks by taking advantage of the crowd at Katha Place.

Police have recovered jewelery worth Rs 10 lakh from the robbery gang. Varanasi ACP Kotwali Ishan Soni said the captured women belong to different districts of Purvanchal and Bihar. These women used to commit incidents of theft at big events and religious places.

After the arrest, security measures were reinforced at the scene of the story. Police have asked devotees to remain alert and take special care of the safety of their jewellery. In this case, ACP Kotwali Ishan Soni said that the robbery gang has been identified. Strict action will be taken against them to avoid such incidents in future.
