According to legend, in ancient times, a kingdom called Champapuri was ruled by King Madhwa and Queen Lakshmipati. He had seven sons and one daughter. Once the king got information about his daughter Rohini from an astrologer, he told him that Rohini would marry Prince Ashoka of Hastinapur. After this, the king organized a swayamvar, in which the marriage of Rohini and Ashok was celebrated. Later, Rohini-Ashoka became king and queen.
Once upon a time, Shri Charan Muniraj came to Hastinapur forest, the king went to see him and received the sermon. Later he asked him why his queen was calm, then he told him that there was once a king named Vastupal in this city, who had a friend named Dhanmitra, to whom a daughter named Durgandha was born. But Dhanmitra was worried about who would marry his daughter. But then he lured her with money and married Durgandha to Shrishen, the son of Vastupala. Meanwhile, worried about the bad smell, Shrishen left after a month.
At that time Amritsen Muniraj arrived. Dhanmitra and Durgandha came to see him. Here, when Dhanmitra asked about the future of Durgandha, he said that there was a kingdom of a king called Bhupal in a city near Mount Girnar. The king had a queen named Sindhumati. One day when the king and queen were going to the forest, when they saw Muniraj, they asked the queen to return home and prepare food. The queen returned home but, angry, she prepared a meal of bitter tumbi for Muniraj, for which Muniraj suffered greatly and died.
When the king found out about this, he threw the queen out of the palace. Due to sin, the queen also contracted leprosy and eventually died and went to hell. After suffering here, she was born first in animal form and then in your house as a girl named Durgandha. On this, Dhanamitra inquired about a fast that would remove his sins, to which sage Amritsen explained the importance and method of Rohini fasting. Durgandha did the same and after renunciation and death, she went to heaven and from there became your queen.
After this, when King Ashoka asked about your story, Muniraj told him that you had also caused trouble for Muniraj during the birth of Bhil. Therefore, after death, after going to hell and traveling in many births, he was born in the house of a businessman. After this, following Muniraj’s advice, he observed Rohini’s fast and became king in the next life. In this way the king and queen achieved salvation with the influence of Rohini fast.
