Russia’s Defense Ministry said on Tuesday that Ukraine fired six US-made ATACMS missiles in Russia’s Bryansk region. Russia has made this accusation when, just a few days ago, US President Joe Biden decided to relax restrictions on Ukraine’s use of US-made weapons in the war. “The Russian military shot down five army tactical missile systems, known as ATACMS, and destroyed another system,” the Associated Press news agency quoted the Russian Defense Ministry as saying in a report.
The Russian Defense Ministry said debris from ATACMS missiles destroyed by its forces fell on a military facility, causing a fire there, but no casualties were reported. Ukraine claimed it attacked a Russian military weapons depot in Bryansk at midnight on Nov. 18, the AP reported. However, Ukraine did not reveal what weapons it used in this attack. A Ukrainian military spokesman said several explosions were heard in the target area.

Joe Biden recently made it easier to use American weapons by allowing Ukraine to use long-range missiles supplied by his country to strike deeper inside Russia. The decision was made after Russian President Vladimir Putin deployed North Korean troops to Ukraine’s northern border. Putin is trying to recapture several Russian territories captured by Ukrainian forces.
Russia has said Biden’s decision to allow the use of U.S.-made long-range missiles marks the start of a new round of tensions in the war between Ukraine and Russia. Earlier on Tuesday, Putin approved a major change in Russia’s nuclear policy. According to this, if any country fires missiles at Russia with the help of a nuclear-powered country, it will be considered a joint attack by both countries. Russia can respond to this attack with WMD (weapon of mass destruction). This means nuclear attack.
