If the Indian team had written a new definition of explosive batting in the T20 match against Bangladesh in Hyderabad on October 12, a month later on November 15, the Indian team repeated the same definition and again created a stir with their mind-blowing batting . This time the land was not from India but from South Africa and the target was the players from there. In the fourth and final match of the T20 series in Johannesburg on Friday, India scored a massive score of 283 runs against South Africa while only one wicket fell.
Sanju Samson was once again the star of this destructive performance by the Indian team, who once again scored a century like in Hyderabad. At the same time, he received good support from Tilak Verma because this young batsman showed an even tougher attitude than Sanju and scored a century. Now, if such a big score is achieved, so many centuries are scored, then records are likely to be made and that is exactly what happened. Not only did Sanju and Tilak achieve their own records, but Team India also achieved some records in their kit.
Record rains in Sanju-Tilak
- Sanju Samson scored the third century of his T20 career and all three of his centuries came this year. In this way, he became the first batsman to score 3 centuries in T20 Internationals in a single year.
- Sanju Samson ranked third in the list of Indian batsmen who have scored most centuries in T20 International. Only captain Suryakumar Yadav (4) and former captain Rohit Sharma (5) are ahead of him.
- Sanju also became the first Indian batsman to score two centuries in the same series, while soon after, Tilak Verma also repeated his record and became the second Indian batsman to do so. Before these two, only Phil Salt of England has been able to accomplish such a feat worldwide.
- Tilak Verma scored the second century of his T20 career and this century has come in consecutive matches. He also scored a century at Centurion. In this way, after Sanju, he became the second Indian batsman to score centuries in two consecutive T20 internationals.
- Tilak has completed his century in just 41 balls, marking the third-fastest century for India in this format after Rohit Sharma (35) and Sanju Samson (40).
- Sanju and Tilak scored centuries in this match and thus, for the first time in T20 International, among the full member countries (i.e. countries that play Test cricket), a team scored 2 centuries in the same innings.
- The two formed a partnership of 210 runs (not out) for the second wicket, which is the largest partnership in T20 International history. In fact, for the first time there has been a partnership of more than 200 runs in a T20 International match.
- Team India has hit a total of 23 sixes in their innings, which is a new record in T20. Earlier, India, West Indies and Afghanistan had hit 22 sixes each.
- Tilak and Sanju together have scored a total of 4 centuries in this series. It is the first time that a team has scored 4 centuries in a series.
- Team India’s score of 283 runs is the second highest score in matches played between two full member countries. The record for highest score (297) is also in the name of India, who faced Bangladesh last month.
