School and college holidays in Tamil Nadu due to bad weather, heavy rain expected for next five days; heavy rain in Tamil Nadu college school closed in Nagapattinam Thoothukudi Karaikal Ramanathapuram district

Tamilnadu School Closed: Heavy rains occurred in many parts of Tamil Nadu, resulting in schools being closed in many districts. The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) in Chennai has forecast heavy rain and thunderstorm in ten districts, including five in the delta region and five in the south, between 7 am and 10 am on Tuesday. The affected districts in the delta region include Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam and Pudukkottai, while the southern districts under alert are Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari.

Schools and colleges will remain closed here.

The district collectors of Nagapattinam, Thoothukudi and Karaikal declared school holidays on Tuesday, November 19. Schools and colleges will also remain closed in Karaikal, while in Thoothukudi the authorities have declared holidays only in schools. Universities will function normally. In Thanjavur, the district administration has allowed school principals to take the decision to close depending on local circumstances. Apart from this, there is also an order to close schools in Ramanathapuram district.

This is the weather forecast.

According to the RMC, an atmospheric circulation over Kumari Kadal (Gulf of Mannar) and adjoining areas has intensified the northeast monsoon, causing heavy rainfall in the state. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, while heavy rain is likely at isolated places over the delta and southern districts. In Chennai, it will be partly cloudy with isolated light to moderate rain and thundershowers. The temperature is expected to be between 25 degrees Celsius and 32 degrees Celsius.

They advise people to take precautions

The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert predicting moderate rainfall in the next five days in Tamil Nadu. Due to strengthening northeast monsoon, officials in the delta and southern districts are on high alert and people have been advised to exercise caution. District Collectors B Priyanka Pankajam (Nagapattinam), P Akash (Thoothukudi) and T Manikandan (Karaikal) have urged people to remain alert and follow safety measures during the ongoing heavy rains.
