Security forces killed 10 Naxalites in Sukma district

Breaking of Chhattisgarh, (Aaj Samaj), Raipur: Security forces killed 10 Naxalites this morning in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. District Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan has confirmed the killing of 10 Naxalites. The meeting still continues. Intermittent gunfire occurs in the area. According to initial information, there has been an encounter between police and Naxalites in Bhandarpadar forest under Bhejji police station.

Many weapons are recovered, including the AK-47 rifle.

According to the police, many other weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, were recovered from the scene. These weapons also include 3 automatic weapons. Police said that security personnel were carrying out a search operation for Naxalites early today morning and during that time an encounter took place in which at least 10 Naxalites were killed. Following this, the number of Naxalites killed so far this year has risen to more than 200.

Body recovered, search operation continues

Bastar Inspector General of Police P Sundarraj confirmed that search operations were still underway in the area and all 10 bodies had been recovered. He said that apart from other weapons, an INSAS and an automatic rifle have also been recovered.

257 Naxalites killed since January

At least 257 Naxalites have been killed since January this year, while 861 have been arrested and another 789 have surrendered. The death toll is expected to fall 90 percent to 96 in September 2024 from a peak of 1,005 in 2010. For the first time in 2022, the death toll remained below 100 after four decades. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had recently announced that Chhattisgarh will be completely Naxal-free by 2026. To achieve this goal, security forces have launched simultaneous operations.
