Sick RBI Governor, (Aaj Samaj), New Delhi/Chennai: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das was admitted to hospital in Chennai, capital of Tamil Nadu, after his health deteriorated. RBI told him that he was suffering from heartburn and was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai for observation.

Hospital sources have confirmed that the RBI governor is fine and there is no emergency. The RBI spokesperson said that the condition of the RBI chief is good and he will be discharged in the next 2-3 hours. There is nothing to worry about. We will issue a formal statement soon, he said.

According to sources, the central government is considering a second extension for Shaktikanta Das, which would make him the longest-serving person as RBI chief since the 1960s. Shaktikanta Das, appointed in December 2018, has already surpassed the typical five-year term seen in recent decades.

Under the leadership of Shaktikanta Das, the RBI has faced several economic challenges, including inflationary pressures and global economic uncertainties. In a recent interview, Shaktikanta Das expressed confidence in India’s economic resilience and said the country is well prepared to handle external shocks, including protectionism, trade wars and geopolitical tensions.
