Three new cases of polio virus have been reported in Pakistan’s Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces, taking the total number of infection cases this year to 55. The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication of the National Institute of Health confirmed three cases of poliovirus type 1 (WPV1), the Dawn newspaper reported. Among the infected children are two girls aged 8 and 20 months and a five-month-old boy. A laboratory official said the new cases were reported from Dera Ismail Khan, Zhob and Jafrabad districts. Polio cases have already been reported in all three districts this year.
