The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led alliance won a landslide victory in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, after which opposition leaders i.e. Mahavikas Aghadi are raising questions on EVMs. Meanwhile, NCP-SP chief Sharad Pawar remained silent on the EVMs and did not blame them for the defeat. Although he has spoken of polarization of Hindus. At the same time, his intentions have been clear regarding what kind of strategy he will use to advance his policy. After losing the Maharashtra elections, he has given many messages in his first statement.
Sharad Pawar says the results of the Maharashtra elections have not been as expected. A study will be done on this and they will go to the people. Pawar has expressed hope that due to the participation of a large number of women, the Mahayuti alliance i.e. BJP has won the Maharashtra elections.
“We will make the decision on the withdrawal of the policy”
This time the NCP-SP chief spoke of taking the next generation forward. He gave a ticket to Yugendra Pawar from the Baramati seat. Sharad Pawar’s younger brother Ajit fought against him and won. Sharad Pawar’s hopes were dashed. Sharad Pawar said fielding Yugendra Pawar against Ajit Pawar in Baramati was not a wrong decision. Someone had to contest the elections. There can be no comparison between Ajit and Yugendra Pawar. There was no rush to bowl Yugendra Pawar. Baramati has connections with him and his family. Ajit Pawar is also associated with Baramati. What message would it have sent to Maharashtra if it had fielded a candidate from outside the Pawar family?
Sharad Pawar said that Ajit Pawar worked in Baramati for many years. On one side there was such a big leader with power and on the other side there was a new guy. This was what I had anticipated the election results would be.
While campaigning for his grandson Yugendra Pawar, Sharad Pawar had said that he is not in power, but in Rajya Sabha. He still has one and a half years left in his term, but after one and a half years he will have to think whether he will go to Rajya Sabha or not.
He had announced that he would not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections but would continue to serve and work for the people. Now it is their turn to bring forward the new generation. After this statement by Sharad Pawar, speculations began as to whether he was hinting at his retirement from politics. However, he has now broken his silence on his retirement from politics. He said: “My colleagues and I will decide whether I should retire or not, why do others say that?”
polarization of Hindu voters
Referring to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and veteran BJP leader Yogi Adityanath’s statement, Sharad Pawar spoke about the polarization of Hindu voters. He said that the UP Chief Minister gave the slogan “If we are divided, we will be divided.” This slogan scared most people and they joined together. They feel this has caused polarization.
Actually, there was a lot of politics in Maharashtra over CM Yogi’s statement that if we divide, we will divide and the BJP capitalized on it very well. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi somewhere gave a different slogan in support of CM Yogi’s statement that if we remain united, we will remain righteous.
Sharad Pawar broke silence on EVM
After the defeat of Mahavikas Aghadi in the Maharashtra elections, his constituents are targeting the EVMs and continuously raising questions. Although Sharad Pawar has made it clear that he is not going to say anything about electronic voting machines without official information, the Congress says there must be a debate on voting machines. Congress leader Udit Raj says as long as there are EVMs, elections cannot be fair. The Maharashtra election results clearly indicate that the EVMs have won.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi described the results as shocking and asked how there was such a difference in the numbers. In all polls, it was either a close race or Maha Vikas Aghadi was shown to be ahead. He went to many places in Maharashtra, where people told him that they would vote for his party, but we should focus on EVMs.
What was the result of the Maharashtra elections?
The BJP has scored three consecutive victories in the Maharashtra Assembly elections and has won more than 100 seats each time. This time he has achieved the biggest mandate so far in the state. It has won 132 seats, while in 2014 it won 122 seats. At the same time, Congress was reduced to 42 seats during the Modi wave of 2014 and this time it has half that number i.e. it has to make do with just 16 seats.
At the same time, the public has also given the answer as to who is the real NCP and Shiv Sena. Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP achieved great success. Shiv Sena won 57 seats, while Shiv Sena (UBT) won 20 seats. At the same time, Ajit Pawar’s NCP won 41 seats, while NCP (Sharad Pawar) won 10 seats. In total, Mahayuti won 230 seats in the 288-seat assembly, Mahavikas Aghadi won 47 seats and others won 11 seats.
