If a masala film doesn’t make you whistle, doesn’t send an electric shock to your feet and doesn’t force you to whistle, then it’s not a real masala film. Perhaps the masala in it is raw and not cooked properly. The purpose of watching ‘Singham Again’, which became the Avengers moment of Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe, is that on the occasion of the festival, one should put aside the mind and logic and just enjoy.

The trailer of Ajay Devgan starrer ‘Singham Again’ promised action, drama, star cast and all kinds of explosive moments on the big screen. But could Rohit Shetty deliver the fun as per his promise? The answer to this question is a bit complicated.

What is the story?
The story of ‘Singham Again’ begins in Kashmir, where Bajirao Singham has “erased all traces of terrorism”. The film tells that the Singham force has reformed the youth who have become militants and made them a part of the force. Singham is attacked during this Kashmir Tourism advertisement. But Singham not only survives the attack but also catches the attacker who is none other than Umar Hafiz (Jackie Shroff).

What I don’t understand here is which fact is more shocking: seeing Jackie riding a bike with great enthusiasm at this age or the arrest of a character considered terrifying in the previous movies of the police universe from the beginning?

Umar has told Singham that there is someone who is more dangerous than him and he will come. What is known is that it will come from Tamil Nadu. By now you would also have seen Ravi Kishan, who has become minister and a new squad has been formed to fight terrorism across the country, whose name is ‘Shiva Squad’. There are ‘Singham’ officers from all areas of this squadron. So, the responsibility of handling the threat coming from Tamil Nadu falls on Lady Singham alias Shakti Shetty. He has a small success, but a big failure.

Here you see the villain of the movie ‘Danger Lanka’ (Arjun Kapoor) for the first time. He enters Shakti Shetty police station and kills 15 policemen. However, the way he carries out this crime will remind you of many Southern movies. Shakti Shetty could not stop this attack on his police station because his phone was not working. These are the typical problems of Rohit Shetty, which exist in each of his films.

The film starts to sink after 40 minutes.
The characters show heroism, but their opportunity to show heroism is created by some extremely stupid mistake on their part. Not getting a call from someone is no big deal, but the kind of heroes these Rohit Cop Universe characters are, is it in their best interest to do so?

The problem that starts appearing from here will still be visible to you. You must have seen in the trailer that Danger Lanka kidnaps Singham’s wife Avni (Kareena Kapoor). Actually, Avni is working on a Ramayana project, some footage of which has been deleted, and she herself is in the field with a camera to shoot it again. In the face of danger, police officers also accompany him. But the lady asked for tea, the policeman went to look for it and then they were kidnapped.

Another officer, Satya (Tiger Shroff), trained by Singham, also tries to stop Danger Lanka’s actions. Satya’s fight etc. is not like that of any ordinary policeman, because he is a Kalaripayattu master. The ashram where she grew up is in the same forest that Danger Lanka takes Avni through. Satya also succeeds once, but then Danger Lanka himself attacks his ashram. And this Kalaripayattu teacher doesn’t know the basics that the villain’s goons can also come from the back door of the house.

Avni is also injured and Lanka takes her away again. Satya’s work is about to be completed when Mr. Singham arrives. That he had arrived a while ago by helicopter to the place where Satya had saved Avni. They also learned that Avni is now in Satya’s ashram. But he did not come directly to the ashram by helicopter. All these mistakes make Singham Sir a human being; otherwise Rohit would have made him a god by adding praises etc. in Sanskrit.

For the first 40 minutes it seemed like ‘Singham Again’ was probably going to be better than the previous films. But whatever happens after this, it slows down the pace of the entire narrative. As soon as the second half begins, the story starts mentioning the old players of the police universe, Simba (Ranveer Singh) and Suryavanshi (Akshay Kumar). And then the way Simba was left in the script becomes irritating after a certain point.

Stunt overload in Lanka incident
Danger Lanka has taken Singham’s wife to Sri Lanka for revenge. And now the film’s statutes say that Singham should enter Sri Lanka with his entire team. And you’ve seen in the trailer that this is what will happen. The interesting thing is that everything you’ve seen in the trailer is also the most exciting parts of the movie. Otherwise, the fight sequences and stunts are just to show how far the human mind can go without logic. Akshay Kumar also reaches the other end of the same distance. Watch the trailer for ‘Singham Again’:

‘Singham Again’ only offers moments within Ajay Devgan’s lead hero. Fans of other characters won’t find anything exciting in the movie either. Rohit Shetty has tried so hard to make ‘Singham Again’ a reference to the Ramayana story that his pressure is visible throughout the film. If there is any other star with Ajay in any frame, there will definitely be a mid-cut with some scene from Ramayana. This continues throughout the movie and really ruins the entire flow of the movie.

Rohit Shetty has definitely crafted many action sequences very well, but he should have done so with a story. Without emotion, without drama, without original ideas, everything seems very mechanical. Ajay Devgan’s performance definitely keeps the attention and this will be called his most powerful performance in the role of Singham.

Be it Kareena, Deepika and Ranveer Singh, every other actor is seen striving to live up to their director’s vision. But the concept of the film has become so overloaded that it starts to feel boring in the second half. A lot of things happen on the screen, explosions happen, cars fly, people do stunts, but you are staring like a stone without any reaction.

One should not look for logic in masala films, this is absolutely true. But a masala film should definitely try to look a little clever in its own logic. In an attempt to make another great film, ‘Singham Again’ seems to be a film that has failed to handle all the elements by adding too many elements to it.

Be it Ajay Devgan, Ranveer Singh or Akshay Kumar, there are very few funny moments even for fans of the stars. Even Salman Khan’s cameo in ‘Singham Again’ is cooler than all his cameos.
