Sitapur: During the by-elections held in Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party had to face defeat in the Kundarki assembly seat of Moradabad. Meanwhile, 35 Lucknow-bound SP supporters have been detained by the Sitapur police on suspicion. All of them were to meet SP national president Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow to express grief over election fraud and being prevented from voting. The police arrested all these SP supporters who were traveling in five cars.
Police said it was a matter of routine control.
The whole thing is from Kotwali city area. Here, Superintendent of Police Chakresh Mishra issued a statement in the police media cell saying that intensive drive checks are being carried out every night to prevent criminals. In this sequence, 35 suspicious persons along with about five vehicles were stopped by installing barriers late at night. SP says if people cannot show documents and RC of vehicles, everyone will be taken to police station and other action including challan will be taken.
Akhilesh Yadav took aim at BJP
After being detained by workers, Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav also attacked the BJP by posting on X. Akhilesh Yadav wrote on Twitter: “In Kundarki, all those people who were stopped from voting publicly or whose votes were cast by someone else, came to Lucknow to voice their grievances, because no hearing was being held at the local level.” This would have exposed the BJP’s election scam, for which he was detained by the Uttar Pradesh police at Sitapur en route. We urge the Honorable President, the Honorable Supreme Court, the Election Commission, the Human Rights Commission, the Honorable Governor and all newspapers and news channels in the country to take immediate cognizance of this matter and ensure that those who exercise their right to vote The BJP government of Uttar Pradesh should not commit any injustice or oppression against those who want to uplift it.
Officials are prevented from meeting
As soon as information about the incident was received, many SPs of the district rushed to the city police station. However, the authorities prevented him from meeting with the arrested workers. National secretary and former MLA Anup Gupta, who contacted Kotwali for information, accused the police of not allowing him to meet and also prohibiting him from offering tea and carrying out daily activities.
