Uttar Pradesh: Due to fog and haze, traffic accidents are continuously increasing on Yamuna Expressway and nearby roads. In view of this, the Yamuna Authority has decided to reduce the speed of vehicles from December 15 to February 15. During this period, the speed of light vehicles has been reduced from 100 kmph to 80 kmph, while the speed of heavy vehicles has been reduced from 80 kmph to 60 kmph. Vehicles will be penalized for traveling at a speed higher than the prescribed speed.
The administration has already taken concrete measures to curb the increasing number of road accidents during fog. This time a plan has been initiated to install reflectors on cars and other vehicles so that drivers can easily see the vehicle even in foggy conditions. Deepak Shah of Aligarh RTO administration said that this step is taken every year in the month of November and this year it is also being implemented.
Cameras will be installed on the road
Cameras will be installed in Aligarh and surrounding roads to monitor the speed of vehicles. Special attention will be paid to the speed of vehicles on Aligarh-Ghaziabad Highway, Aligarh-Kanpur Highway, Aligarh-Moradabad Highway, Aligarh-Tappal Highway and Aligarh-Mathura Highway. If any vehicle is found to be moving faster than the prescribed speed, a challan will be issued immediately.
The traffic police will also remain alert
Aligarh SP Traffic Mukesh Chandra Uttam said deployment of traffic police will be ensured at all intersections and drivers will also be informed to avoid accidents. “The high speed of vehicles during fog often causes accidents, so this measure will prevent accidents,” he said. During this period, apart from taking strict measures, the administration has also started an awareness campaign on road safety so that drivers remain alert and avoid accidents caused by fog.
