The striking students outside the Public Service Commission in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj district announced that they would end their movement on the fifth day. Students were demanding to conduct PCS Pre and RO/ARO exams in ‘One Day, One Shift’, so on Thursday, on the initiative of CM Yogi Adityanath, the Public Service Commission issued a notification that PCS Pre-exam will be conducted of the students. in ‘One day, one shift’. The demand to conduct it in ‘one shift’ was accepted, while a committee was formed for the RO/ARO examination.

Recently, an order by the UP Public Service Commission (UPPSC) created a stir among students. The situation reached such a point that the students sat on a dharna in front of the Public Service Commission gate. The Commission had ordered standardization and conduct of PCS Pre and RO/ARO Pre exams in two days. In protest against this, soon a crowd of students gathered at the gate of the Public Service Commission. The students began demanding the commission to withdraw its order, but the commission did not listen to them for three days.

Prayagraj police had to resort to lathicharge

During this period, many times the students also became agitated. The police even had to resort to lathi charge, but the students did not move in front of the Public Service Commission gate. The police and administration also surrendered in the face of the students’ protest. Many times, senior police and administration officials spoke to the students, but the students did not agree to end the strike in any way. The students said they will not move from here until the Commission withdraws its order. The students even captured the door of the commission. Slogans like Loot Service Commission, Corrupt Commission and Chilam Commission were written on the door.

Commission withdrew order on CM Yogi’s initiative

The Commission also remained silent for three days. During this period, the number of students appearing before the Commission continued to increase. Leaders of all political parties also supported the students. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also supported the students by tweeting. When the situation went out of control on the fourth day, CM Yogi took the initiative with the Commission regarding the students’ demands. CM Yogi asked the Commission to take appropriate decisions after communicating with the students. Just a few hours after CM Yogi’s initiative, the Commission issued a notification.

In its order, the UP Public Service Commission said the PCS pre-examination will be conducted in “one day, one shift”, while a committee has been formed for the RO/ARO pre-examination. The committee has been asked to soon submit its report on conducting the exam in “one day, one shift”. However, till Thursday the students refused to accept the commission’s order and said they would not end their strike even if the order on RO/ARO pre-examination was not issued. However, the students ended their protest on Friday afternoon.
