Chandigarh News, Chandīgarh: Suspended UT Police soldier and his other associate, who were removed from duty in a car theft case, will appear in court again today after completing their two-day remand in the drug smuggling case . During pretrial detention, the defendants have also revealed the name of another defendant involved in this game from whom they had purchased 19 grams of heroin.
The accused were identified as former resident Jawan Kuldeep Kumar of Mullanpur Mohali Punjab and Kulwinder Singh village Khuddha Ali Sher. Sarangpur police station registered a case against both the accused under NDPS Act 21, 29 and BNS-2023. Both accused will be produced in court today and remanded in custody.
It is noteworthy that ASI Kulwant Singh, ASI Sudhir and constables Naveen and Sandeep Kumar posted in the District Crime Branch were patrolling the area last Tuesday night. When he reached near the IRB complex, he saw two youths coming towards him. But as soon as these two young men saw the police, they turned around and tried to flee. But under suspicion, the police personnel detained both youths and started questioning them and when they were asked the reason for their return, they could not give any satisfactory answer. Among them, a young man said his name was Kuldeep and the other as Kulvindra Singh.
Kuldeep Singh showed his ID card to the monitoring team and said that he is a personnel of Chandigarh Police and posted in IRB. But after getting suspicious, when the verification team asked his superiors about Kuldeep Kumar, it came to light that Kuldeep Kumar had been compulsorily retired from IRB Chandigarh police a few months ago.
In such a situation, when the police searched him and checked the gray colored bag carried by Kuldeep Kumar, a packet containing white colored powder was found. Upon checking it turned out that it was powdered heroin. During police interrogation, they could not produce any license or permit related to heroin, so the police arrested the suspended jawan Kuldeep and his other partner and lodged a case against them under the NDPS Act at Sarangpur police station. .
