In preparation for the grand event of Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, the administration has initiated special arrangements for the convenience of pilgrims. This time 1.5 lakh toilets are being constructed in Prayagraj, in order to maintain a high level of cleanliness and facilities. The administration intends to have these toilets completely ready before December 15.
Maha Kumbh Mela special officer Akanksha Rana said cleanliness is the top priority and 1.5 lakh toilets are being installed for this. A jet spray system will be installed to clean these toilets and a QR code based monitoring system for security. 55 vendors are participating in this project and will provide toilet facilities and urinals in the fair area.
Preparation to install 1.5 lakh toilets
As thousands of devotees are expected to visit during major bathing festivals like Makar Sankranti and Mauni Amavasya, the administration has also decided to provide 49,000 pit toilets, 12,000 FRP toilets and 350 mobile toilets.
Apart from this, the Tourism Department has also launched the ‘Paying Guests’ program as a convenient and affordable accommodation option for pilgrims. Regional Tourism Officer Aparajita Singh said local residents are being encouraged to register their houses as paying guest facilities. Under this plan, residents receive special training in hospitality, cleanliness and appropriate behavior.
Cleanliness has top priority
To take advantage of this facility, a toll-free number and a WhatsApp contact have been arranged. Initially, it has been targeted to include 2,000 houses, where residents will get a registration with a validity of 3 years and will be able to determine the rent according to their convenience. So far 50 houses have been registered and many more are in the process.
The list of authorized facilities for paying guests will be made available to pilgrims on the Mela Administration website and app, making it easier for them to search.
