The Maharashtra Cyber Police has registered an FIR against vendors and e-commerce platforms selling t-shirts glorifying gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Dawood Ibrahim. Now there will be an investigation and investigation against these people and companies. A few days ago, a photo of a t-shirt calling Lawrence Bishnoi a hero was revealed. After this there was a great stir.
There were allegations of selling Lawrence Bishnoi t-shirts on many e-commerce platforms. Meesho and other companies gave a clarification and removed this shirt from the website. However, the police have registered an FIR in this matter.
There was a big buzz regarding Meesho-Flipkart
Filmmaker Alishan Jaffrey had opposed this type of t-shirts. He had shared a photo, in which Lawrence Bishnoi’s photo was printed on the t-shirt and Gangster was written on it. “People sell gangster stuff on platforms like Meesho and Tshopper. This is just one example of India’s latest online radicalization,” Jaffrey wrote on X. However, others later spotted a similar t-shirt on Flipkart, which had a price of 166 rupees.
It was stated on social media that these types of t-shirts were sold for children. Most of the shooters involved in the Lawrence Bishnoi gang are young or entered the world of crime at a young age under the influence of gangsters. In such a situation, objections were raised about this T-shirt influencing the ideology of children. After the uproar, almost all e-commerce platforms removed these types of t-shirts from their websites. However, now complaints have been filed against all of these platforms.
What is in the police FIR?
The Maharashtra cyber police said several e-commerce platforms, including Flipkart, AliExpress and marketplaces like Tshopper and Etsy, are selling T-shirts glorifying notorious gangsters like Lawrence Bishnoi and Dawood Ibrahim. Products that idolize criminal figures pose a great risk to society by promoting a distorted image. These products can negatively affect young minds. The Maharashtra Cyber Department considers this content as harmful, because people affected by it can behave like this and enter the world of crime.
The Maharashtra Cyber Police has taken serious cognizance of this issue and has registered a case against the sellers selling these objectionable products under CR No. 13/2024 u/s 192, 196, 353, 3 BNS, 2023 r/w 67 IT Act, 2000 FIR has been registered. FIR has also been filed against the platforms hosting these listings such as Flipkart, AliExpress, Tshopper and Etsy. Maharashtra Cyber has taken this action to maintain a safe digital environment and prevent content that destabilizes public peace.
