When Sharda Sinha was disqualified in talent search
Sharda Sinha narrated the incident during an interview. In this she told how she received rejections at first and then praise from Begum Akhtar. Singer said: The story begins with HMV. (A studio that used to organize competitions from one place to another and select talented people.) During that time a talent search was conducted. Advertisements appeared in newspapers. They all ran. The idea occurred to me that I should join the queue too. You must participate. The audition was held at the Burlington Hotel in Lucknow. The audition was the same day I reached Lucknow. In such a situation, when we reached the hotel, we learned that HMV had set up their studio at number 11 and auditions were being held. People came one after another and they were all rejected. I went too but I was also disqualified. I felt very sad.
Begum Akhtar and Sharda Sinha Reunion: Begum Akhtar’s Praise and Fate Changed
Sharda, who was disappointed at not being selected in the first attempt, was encouraged by her husband. He said let’s try again with Sharda. Sharda returned to the audition. This time, coincidentally, the person auditioning her was none other than veteran singer Begum Akhtar. Begum called Sharda and told her that her voice was very good. They just need to practice. He patted Sharda on the back and encouraged her. After this, Sharda Sinha believed that she had passed the career test and after this encounter her life changed.
Multiple myeloma took his life
Sharda Sinha was ill for a long time. In the middle, there was even a rumor of his death. Then, the singer, for his part, put an end to such news and confirmed his state of health. Singer was battling a blood cancer called multiple myeloma. He had been suffering from this disease for 6 years in 2018 and his health had deteriorated during the Corona period. He was admitted to the Rotary Cancer Hospital of AIIMS Delhi. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1991 for his incomparable contribution to popular songs. In 2018, the Government of India awarded him the Padma Bhushan. Apart from this, Sharda Sinha, who raised the name of Bihar across the world, was also awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
