Chandigarh News, Chandīgarh: Parents will be able to apply online from December 1 for admission to the EWS/DG entrance class in 57 unaided private and non-minority schools in the city. This provision has been made by the Education Department in private schools under the Right to Education for Children from Economically Weaker Sections and Disadvantaged Groups (EWS/DG) Act.

Director of school education Harsuhinder Pal Singh Brar said that the admission schedule for the EWS/DG entry class has been prepared. While in the last call the application process began in January, this time it begins on December 1. Parents will be able to apply for admission starting December 1. The last date for submission of applications has been fixed as January 15. There are around 800 EWS/DG seats in the entry class in 57 private unaided and non-minority schools in the city. Brar clarified that compared to the last session, on this occasion no changes have been made to the admission process, only the earliest application date has been maintained. The department wants to complete the admission process for EWS/DG entry classes before the start of the academic session in the month of April so that private schools do not face the problem of filling these seats early. In the last session, some private schools gave seats earlier.

EWS/DG Admission Qualification

According to the Right to Education Act of 2009, 25 percent of seats in the entry class in non-minority private schools are reserved for children from economically weaker sections and disadvantaged groups. Those children can apply for the entry class under EWS/DG category, whose annual income of parents and guardians is less than Rs 1.50 lakh or belong to scheduled caste under Section 2(D) of Right to Law Act. Education 2009., Children of 60 percent of disabled people, The war widow’s children, Disabled child, orphaned children, Affected by cancer and AIDS.

Mandatory documents for admission.

-Aadhar Card, Passport or Birth Certificate for the date of birth.

-Ration card, Certificate of Domicile or Resident or Voter I-Card for proof of residence.

Income certificate for SAT category and certificate issued by the competent authority for the disadvantaged group.
