In the sensational gangrape case that took place in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh, the court delivered its verdict in just five months and sentenced the culprits to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. This is a case in the Bisanda police station area, where two young men raped a minor student on the pretext of taking her.
This incident occurred in July 2023, a man reported to the police that his daughter was going to her sister’s house after she was scolded for stealing wheat. On the way, two youths riding a bicycle, Babulal and Surendra, forced her to sit in the car on the pretext of giving her a lift, took her to a deserted place and gang-raped her.
20-20 years in prison for those guilty of gangrape
The girl came home drenched in blood and informed her relatives, after which the police immediately registered the case. On this matter, SP Ankur Aggarwal said that the police had submitted the charge sheet before the court within 7 days of registering the FIR.
During the hearing of the case, the prosecution presented 7 witnesses. After hearings on a total of 20 dates, the court convicted both defendants and sentenced them to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. POCSO court government advocate Kamal Singh Gautam said the case dates back to July 2023.
The court gave its verdict in 5 months
POCSO court government advocate Kamal Singh Gautam said that after filing the charge sheet, the prosecution fought the accused under strict sections. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 12,000 on each of the accused. The defendants have been in prison since the incident.
