The FSSAI has called a meeting with e-commerce food business operators (FBOs) to strengthen compliance requirements for e-commerce FBOs, according to an official statement issued on Tuesday.
“FSSAI CEO Ganji Kamala V Rao (CEO) has asked e-commerce FBOs to adopt practices such that the minimum shelf life of food products is 30 per cent or 45 days at the time of delivery to consumers,” the statement said. who chaired the meeting, clarified that the claims of any product made on the e-commerce platform must be in line with the information contained in the product label and must comply with the labeling and display norms of the FSSAI.
He also warned FBOs against making unsubstantiated claims online. “This will prevent misleading information and protect consumers’ right to accurate product descriptions,” the regulator said.
