Pope Francis greeted representatives of El Sembrador – Nueva Evangelización (ESNE), the Spanish-language Catholic network based in the United States, on Thursday.
The Pope began his intervention by thanking the founder of the network, Noel Díaz, who was among the seven representatives present at the Holy See.
He said he was deeply impressed by Díaz’s “vision of faith and his dedication to God,” and emphasized that “this is how ESNE began.”
Pope described ESNE as “a dream that is possible and remains possible thanks to the commitment of this community of communicators and many other partners.”
an evangelization project
The Pope mentioned one of ESNE’s most recent projects: “I Am 73”, a special devotion to Jesus that aims to create a community of evangelists capable of communicating the joy of the Gospel and the mercy of God.
Today, the Pope stated, “there is a great need for disciples who carry out the mission that Jesus Christ has entrusted to us, also evangelizing through communication.”
He said that the most important patron of communication professionals is the Holy Trinity, which is “alive in communication.” Pope Francis thanked the delegates present for bringing the Pope’s voice and message to so many people in the United States and Spanish-speaking countries.
He said: “Thank you for helping so many brothers and sisters to pray, to attend Mass if it is not possible in person, to receive Christian catechesis and to learn about the news of the Church.
proximity to immigrants
Next, the Pope expressed his gratitude for the work done by television networks to reach out to so many immigrants from Latin American countries.
He said he “needs reference points and comfort in his native language” and ESNE provides him with exactly that.
Concluding his message, Pope Francis encouraged everyone present to “move forward, never stopping looking at heaven and our brothers and sisters most in need,” and urged them to “with generosity and creativity, always in the spirit of Peter Anchored in the rock, Always remain “submissive to the guidance of the church.”
