New Delhi: The statement by Indian Railways came amid huge crowds at railway stations and claims by passengers that tickets were not confirmed on trains. On Tuesday, the Railways said that 7,663 special trains will run on the occasion of the festivals in 2024. These trains will run between October 1 and November 30. Last year during this period 4,429 special trains ran.
More than 73% of the trains ran
Railways claimed that more than 73% of trains have run this way this year. Between October 24 and November 4, 9.58 million passengers traveled on non-suburban routes on Indian Railways. Last year, 9.24 million passengers traveled during Diwali and Chhath week.

Railways said that on November 4, 2024, more than one crore 20 lakh 72000 passengers traveled on non-suburban routes of Indian Railways. This includes 19.43 lakh passengers in reserved category and 1 crore 1 lakh 29000 passengers in unreserved category. Indian Railways operated 207 special trains on November 3 and 203 special trains on November 4. The railways said 33.91 lakh more passengers traveled in 2024 compared to 2023.
