The world’s oldest man, John Tinniswood, died at the age of 112. Guinness World Records (GWR) issued a statement on Tuesday saying that John Tinniswood died on November 25, 2024 at a nursing home in Southport, England. His family told GWR that he enjoyed music and dancing until his death.

Born on August 26, 1912, Tinniswood held the record of being the oldest living person in the world since April 2024, after the death of Venezuelan Juan Vicente Pérez, aged 114. According to Guinness World Records, Tinniswood had no specific explanation for how he managed to survive so long, citing it as “the grace of God.”

“You either live more or you live less, and there’s not much you can do about it,” he told GWR earlier this year. However, he had some advice for staying healthy: “Do everything in moderation.”
He used to say, ‘If you drink too much, eat too much or walk too much; If you overdo something, you will eventually suffer the consequences.

John Tinniswood also gave some life advice for the new generation. He said, ‘Always do your best, whether you are learning something or teaching someone.’ Whatever you have to give to society, try to give it to them. Because these things will not go with you. Tinniswood is survived by her daughter Suzanne, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. According to GWR, the oldest person ever recorded was Jiroemon Kimura of Japan. He was born in 1897 and died in 2013 at the age of 116.
