This season, around 4 lakh quintals of millets have reached the district markets and the market will function for around 20 days. Therefore, it is expected that more millet will reach the region’s markets this season than last season.

This climate and sandy soil are considered favorable for millet cultivation and in this region millet is grown on a large area along with guar and cotton during the Kharif season. Thanks to good rainfall this monsoon season, millet production has been good. The arrival of millet in the district markets is abundant. Last season, the government procured 3 lakh 70 thousand quintals of millets in the district.
Last season, 3.70 lakh quintals of millets were purchased.
Charkhi Dadri Market Committee deputy secretary Vikas Kumar said that around 3 lakh 70 thousand quintals of millets were purchased in Charkhi Dadri district last season. Whereas this season, more than 3 lakh 15 thousand quintals of millets have been purchased so far and as per the instructions received, the millets will be purchased from the district mandis by November 15.

Dr Chandrabhan Sheoran, agriculture officer working at Charkhi Dadri Agriculture Department office, said that this Kharif season, farmers have registered around 1 lakh 15 thousand acres on the Meri Fasal Byora portal. He said that last season there was also good millet production in the district and this season there has also been good millet production due to favorable weather for millet and timely rains. The agriculture official said that if we talk about the average yield this season, cotton production has decreased. While millet has increased. The average yield of millet this season is about 15 maunds per acre.
Damage caused in some places by excess rain
Due to good rainfall during the monsoon season, millet crop has been lost due to waterlogging in some places in the district. When the millet crop was about to ripen, due to waterlogging of the fields, losses were observed in the villages around Adampur and Bond Kalan area; Otherwise, millet production in the district could have been even higher.
