Today, there is only one question on everyone’s lips: what happened to Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli? Why don’t these two score runs? The public itself is giving the answer to this question and the answer is: the time has come to remove both of them from the team… neither of them play domestic cricket. Due to the fate of Rohit and Virat’s batting in the Test series against Bangladesh and then New Zealand, these questions and answers are coming up. However, former batting great Sunil Gavaskar has a slightly different opinion and does not see any technical problem, especially in the form of Virat Kohli.
In the 6 innings of the Test series against New Zealand, Kohli scored only half a century and despite that, he could only score 93 runs in the entire series. This year Kohli played 6 control matches and in all of them he scored only half-centuries. Virat’s ability is in doubt because of the way he came out against New Zealand, especially in 2-3 innings. There are now fears that his career may also end before the Australian tour.
If the technology is not bad, why are they failing?
Everyone is analyzing Kohli’s poor form in their own way and everything from his technique to his temperament is being judged. However, former captain and batting great Sunil Gavaskar has a different opinion. In an interview given to a YouTube channel, Gavaskar expressed his opinion on this issue. On Kohli’s problem, Gavaskar said that there is no major problem with his technique.
Obviously, considering the current form, no one will agree with what Gavaskar said, but what he said also happens to be an important angle. Gavaskar said there is no flaw in Kohli’s technique but luck is not in his favor. Gavaskar called Kohli “unlucky” and said that wherever he makes a single mistake, his game comes to an end. That means they won’t get a second chance after forgiving a mistake.
Will fortunes change in Australia?
Gavaskar also gave the example of the second innings of the Bengaluru Test match and said that in that innings, Kohli batted well and scored 70 runs but lost his wicket on the last ball of the day. Now, whether the reason is a technical problem or Kohli’s bad luck, the overall loss is borne by Virat himself and the Indian team. Therefore, the hope would be that Kohli returns to form in Australia and scores runs with strong batting.
