Appeal against leader of Myanmar military government
Following Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, the International Criminal Court has now been asked to issue an arrest warrant for one more person. ICC prosecutor Karim Khan filed a lawsuit against Min Aung Hlaing, head of Myanmar’s military government.
Min Aung is accused of crimes against humanity against Rohingya Muslims during Aung San Suu Kyi’s government. Karim Khan has said that we have enough reasons to hold Min Aung criminally responsible for forcibly expelling Rohingya Muslims to Bangladesh and committing atrocities.

Persecution of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar
In 2017, thousands of Rohingya fled to Bangladesh to escape persecution in Myanmar, which the United Nations called a genocide carried out by the Burmese military. But Myanmar’s government denied the allegations and said it was carrying out a campaign against Rohingya extremists.
According to a BBC report, in 2017, Rohingya militants carried out a deadly attack on more than 30 police posts in Myanmar, after which the army began attacking Rohingya Muslims. The military retaliated by burning Rohingya Muslim villages and attacking civilians.
According to MSF, at least 6,700 Rohingya were killed in the military offensive, including at least 730 children under the age of 5. According to the Amnesty International report, the Myanmar military also harassed and raped women and girls from the Rohingya Muslim community.
Myanmar government took no action
This horrific violence caught the attention of the entire world, many world leaders demanded accountability for this violence, but the then government of Aung San Suu Kyi refused to take action against its military.
Since Myanmar is not a member of the ICC, it was not easy to process this matter at that time. But the prosecutors of the International Criminal Court later argued that since Rohingya Muslims were forcibly sent to Bangladesh due to this crime and Bangladesh is a member of the ICC, therefore a case can be prosecuted in this case.
Sufficient evidence found in 5 years of investigation
After almost five years, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, says he has enough evidence to demand that the ICC issue an arrest warrant for Min Hans Hlaing. A three-judge panel will hear your claim in court.

Who is military dictator Min Hong Hlaing?
In 2021, Min Hong ousted Aung San Suu Kyi from power in a coup in Myanmar. Earlier, under his leadership, the Myanmar army launched a campaign against Rohingya Muslims, due to which around 10 lakh Rohingyas had to flee to Bangladesh. Due to the coup in Myanmar and the atrocities committed against the Rohingya, the European Union and the United States have imposed several restrictions on Min Hong, including travel and economic transactions.
