Veteran actress Uma Dasgupta, who played the role of Durga in legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s cult classic film ‘Pather Panchali’ in the history of Indian cinema, has passed away. Uma’s family has given information about her death. It is said that Dasgupta was fighting cancer for a long time, but now he lost the battle of life and breathed his last in a Kolkata hospital. She will always be remembered for her role as Durga Roy in the 1955 classic film ‘Pather Panchali’. Uma Dasgupta’s name will forever be immortalized in film history. Uma breathed her last on the morning of Monday, November 18. He is said to have died around 8am. Chiranjeet told Anandabazar Patrika that in the morning he met Uma’s daughter and came to know that her mother was no more in this world.
