In Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, police arrested three drug peddlers and recovered 1.2 kg of heroin from them. According to police officials, the price of these drugs is estimated to exceed one million rupees in the international market.

Giving information in this regard, Bahraich Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ram Anand Prasad Kushwaha said that they had received secret information for this operation, on the basis of which the team arrested the accused and booked them. During the search, the police not only recovered a huge quantity of heroin but also seized electronic scales, measuring instruments, packaging material and Rs 12,000 in cash.

The arrested accused have been identified as Shanu (34) and Javed (30), residents of Barabanki, and Sahadat Ali alias Pehalwan (55), a resident of Bahraich. According to the police, Sanu was the main supplier, Javed worked as a transporter and Sahadat Ali was his distributor.

ASP Kushwaha said a case has been registered against the three accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Now the police are questioning them and trying to gather information about their drug network.

The accused Sahadat Ali and Javed have already been jailed under the NDPS Act. Due to the proximity of Bahraich district to the border with Nepal, this area has become a major transit point for drug traffickers.
