An attempt was made to shoot Trinamool Congress (TMC) councilor Sushant Ghosh in Kolkata’s Kasba area. During this time, the local population showed intelligence and captured the attacker in the act. The incident occurred in front of the councillor’s house at around 8:10 p.m. on Saturday night. The police seized a revolver and two magazines from the attacker. This matter is being investigated.
According to information, TMC councilor from ward number 108, Sushant Ghosh, was sitting on a chair outside his house. A woman and another person were also present with him. Meanwhile, two young men riding bicycles caught up with him. The young man sitting behind pulled out a revolver and tried to shoot the councilman. The attacker reportedly tried to shoot twice, but did not fire.

Seeing that the bullet was not fired, the attacker tried to flee. At that moment, the young man who was traveling on a bicycle fled the scene, but the attacker who shot was caught by the people. The TMC workers and local people present at the spot caught him and searched him. They recovered his revolver and magazine.

This matter was immediately reported to the police. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot, arrested the accused and took him to Kasba police station. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused resides in Uttar Pradesh. During interrogation, the accused said that he was sent by a person named Mohammad Iqbal to kill TMC councilor Sushant Ghosh.
According to the police, Mohammad Iqbal showed Sushant Ghosh’s photograph to the accused and asked him to shoot him. Police are carrying out raids in search of the accused absconding on a bicycle. The Kolkata police are investigating the matter further. Police are also trying to find out who is the mastermind of this incident and why the accused was hired to kill. This incident caused a sensation in Calcutta. Police say they will soon nab the absconding accused.
