These days the Territorial Army recruitment process is taking place in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. A large number of young people from all over the country have gathered to participate in the recruitment. Candidates from many states including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Rajasthan have come here. Meanwhile, some such videos have emerged which, on the one hand, expose the system and, on the other, also highlight the problems of the candidates.
Questions about youth safety
Candidates reach Pithoragarh in taxis and buses. Meanwhile, a terrifying video has gone viral on social media. In this, the scene of a bus from Pithoragarh depot of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation, which was ferrying candidates from Haldwani to Pithoragarh, is seen. In the video you can see a young man, who did not get a seat on the bus, risking his life and sitting in the trunk of the bus. The trunk door of the moving bus is slightly open, so you can see the young man’s face peeking out. The bus is also seen moving at high speed on the crooked mountain roads. The open trunk door was swinging in the wind, which could have caused a serious accident.
Lack of system and candidate problems.
In another video, crowds are seen throughout the mountains. Crowds of youth are seen everywhere in the district headquarters of Pithoragarh. Many candidates had to spend the night on roadsides, in open areas of hills and in fields. The candidates have alleged that taxi operators are charging arbitrary fares to reach Pithoragarh from Tanakpur and Haldwani. Furthermore, due to a lack of proper arrangement, they had to sleep on roads and trails.
Administration claims
On the other hand, the district administration claims that adequate measures have been taken to ensure that the coming youth participate in the recruitment. Pithoragarh district magistrate Vinod Giri Goswami said arrangements have been made for the youth to stay in 30 schools in the city. Besides, langars have been set up at 18 places where free food is distributed to the candidates. The district magistrate said that more than 100 buses and about 250 taxis have been arranged to bring the youth from the plains and return them. He also informed that proper arrangements have also been made for the candidates of the state of Uttarakhand on the 22nd and 23rd.
