All eyes are on the Muslim community in the by-elections to be held in the Meerapur assembly seat in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. Because after the 2013 riots it has been seen that the Muslim community gathers at the last moment of the elections and votes unilaterally. In such a situation, whether it is assembly elections or Lok Sabha elections and then by-elections. In all these elections, a one-sided attitude of the Muslim community towards the Samajwadi Party has been observed.
Actually, there are around 3 lakh 25 thousand voters in Meerapur assembly seat, of which around 1 lakh 30 thousand are Muslim voters. In these elections, except NDA’s Lok Dal candidate Mithlesh Pal, all parties have fielded Muslim candidates. Be it the Azad Samaj Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, AIMIM or even the Samajwadi Party, considered the leader of the Muslim society.
If experts are to be believed, until the elections approach, the Muslim community will be scattered, with some looking towards the Azad Samaj Party and others towards the Bahujan Samaj Party. But as the elections approach, the Muslim community will be seen united and supporting the Samajwadi Party. Political experts say that this is a polarizing election so in the end this election will be seen between Hindus and Muslims and the fight in this election will be seen only between Lok Dal candidate Mithilesh Pal and Sumbul Rana of the party Samajwadi.
It is said that this time the credibility of Rashtriya Lok Dal is also at stake in the Meerapur by-election because the Rashtriya Lok Dal had an alliance with the Samajwadi Party in the 2022 assembly elections, so the Rashtriya Lok candidate won. Dal, Chandan Singh Chauhan. easily from this seat he had made it, but this time Rashtriya Lok Dal is part of the NDA, so it remains to be seen whether the Muslim community here trusts the Rashtriya Lok Dal or will turn towards its leading party, the Samajwadi Party.
If we talk about the last five elections for this seat, in 2007, Kadir Rana of Rashtriya Lok Dal was the MLA, in 2009, Mithlesh Pal of Rashtriya Lok Dal was the MLA, while in 2012, Maulana Zameen of BCP was the MLA, in 2017, BJP’s Avtar Singh Bhadana and in 2022, Chandan Singh Chauhan had won the seat.
