According to news agency PTI, this decision of the Commission came after the government’s recent decision, in which the recruitment of Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) officers was ordered to be done through an examination of civil services and an engineering services examination (ESE). Under this new scheme, officers of various sub-cadres of IRMS will now be selected through both the exams. Recruitment for the Traffic, Accounting and Personnel sub-cadre will be done through Civil Services Examination, while selection for the Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Signals and Telecommunications and Warehouses sub-cadre will be done through ESE.
An integrated recruitment process will be adopted for appointment of various posts in Railways.
