The district court in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a newborn girl. Apart from this, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the culprit. The convicted criminal was identified as Ayodhya (30). He had committed this heinous incident on July 21, 2023.
Government Additional Criminal Advocate Shashank Khare said Special Judge (POCSO Act) Ashok Kumar Srivastava has sentenced in this case. This incident took place in a village under Sandipan Ghat police station area in Kaushambi district. At that time the girl was only four months old. His mother had gone to relieve herself at 2 in the afternoon, leaving him sleeping in the patio of the house.
At the same time, local resident Ayodhya picked him up. After this he made her a victim of his lust. He escaped, leaving the girl on the cot in critical condition. When the mother returned home, she found her daughter in critical condition. He was immediately taken to the hospital. Later, following the mother’s complaint, a case was registered against the accused at the Sandipan Ghat police station.
The police had arrested the accused. After hearing the case, special judge Srivastava declared Ayodhya guilty of the crime. He was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000. The government lawyer said that in case of non-payment of the fine, the culprit will be sentenced to an additional six-month prison sentence.
Similarly, in another rape case, a court in Faridabad, Haryana, sentenced the culprit to 20 years in jail. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 70,000 on him. He had sexually assaulted a five-year-old girl in the year 2021. Later, after a hearing that lasted three years, Additional Sessions Judge Hemraj Mittal announced the punishment.
Government lawyer Ravinder Gupta said that on the basis of compelling evidence and witnesses, the court on Wednesday convicted the accused Kapil, a resident of Ballabhgarh. According to the police, an FIR was registered at Mahila Police Station in Ballabhgarh on June 8, 2021 under relevant sections of the POCSO Act. This incident occurred on June 7, 2021, when the girl was alone at home.
Her father had gone to solve the street lighting problem, while she was sitting with her mother and her neighbors. At that time, accused Kapil took the girl in his car on the pretext of gifting her a cake. After this he raped her in the car. Police said when the girl returned home, she was bleeding and told the whole story to her parents.
