Manipur: Violence has broken out once again in Manipur. People from the Meitayi community came out in large numbers on the streets of Imphal and vandalized the Chief Minister’s residence. During this period, the houses of seven MLAs were also attacked and a church was also attacked. All this happened despite the presence of army and other security forces deployed in large numbers in Manipur. Considering the seriousness of the situation, internet services were temporarily shut down in the city and curfew was also imposed.
What happened that people got angry?
Now the question is what suddenly happened in Manipur amid the constant tension over the last one year that made people angry. In fact, on November 11, 2024, six people from one family, including women and children, had gone missing from Imphal Valley. According to the latest news, the bodies of these missing persons have been recovered from a river on the state’s border with Assam. As soon as the Meitayi community got information about this, their anger erupted and the uncontrollable crowd created chaos on the streets.
Attack on houses of many MLAs
The mob set vehicles on fire and attacked the houses of several MLAs. Internet services have been temporarily suspended in seven districts of Manipur, where the Meitayi community is in majority. These are the same areas where the Kuki tribal community is the majority. The Kuki community is responsible for this incident.
The Chief Minister should resign
Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh’s son-in-law Prince Imo Singh was among the seven MLAs whose houses were attacked. On Saturday night, the mob also attacked the Chief Minister’s private residence. Following this, curfew was imposed from 4:30 pm and people started demanding that if the government cannot punish the murderers of women and children, then the Chief Minister should resign.
