On the third day of the four-day ritual of Chhath, the great festival of popular faith, 96 Chhath devotees offered Arghya to the Lord of the setting sun at Amar Shaheed Khudiram Bose Central Jail. The Chhath Ghats were decorated with colorful lights by the jail administration. The pond of the Central Jail, decorated like a bride with a milky light, displays its beauty.

The jail administration provided new clothes, prasad and worship materials to the prisoners to celebrate the Chhath festival. The children of the prisoners also received new clothes. During this period, the sanctity and purity of the fasts are fully taken care of by the prison administration and all their needs are met. On this occasion, devotees sang Chhath songs in the pond.

Muslim and Sikh prisoners give special messages from prison
Let us tell you that 96 prisoners in the Central Jail are observing fast on Chhath Puja this year, of which 47 are women and 49 are men. There is so much faith among the prisoners in the festival of Chhath that two Muslim prisoners and one Sikh in jail also fast on Chhath this time. This time, more prisoners than women celebrate Mahaparva Chhath in the Central Jail. Jamshed Alam, who is serving a life sentence and observing the fast, said he has immense faith and belief in this festival. He has made some wish and therefore has been fasting on Chhath Puja for many years.

At the same time, Gurpreet Singh said that he has been celebrating Chhath festival for many years to get out of jail and then live as a good citizen. He has deep faith and belief in this festival. Meanwhile, Julie Jailabme, who is serving her sentence, is fasting in Chhath for the fourth time. However, due to the way in which three Muslim prisoners and a Sikh have given the message from prison, it is necessary to spread it in society.
