A very surprising case has come to light in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh. A 17-year-old girl from Indore was sold to a man from Gujarat in the name of marriage. Six people, including a couple, were arrested on Friday for selling their own minor daughter.
Bid closed at Rs 1.80 lakh
A police officer gave this information on Friday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Hrishikesh Meena said that a city woman allegedly sold a 17-year-old girl to a man from Gujarat for Rs 1.80 lakh for the purpose of marrying her.
Rape of a minor when keeping it in storage
He said: ‘The girl narrated to us her ordeal: the man kept her in a warehouse in Gujarat for two days and raped her. The girl somehow freed herself from his clutches and returned to Indore. The DCP said an FIR was registered under the relevant provisions of the Indian Justice Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act on the complaint lodged by the girl on Thursday.
Police team sent to Gujarat
DCP Meena said that along with the woman who allegedly sold the girl and her husband, four people who had taken her to the Gujarat man were also arrested. He said a police team has been sent to Gujarat to search for the person.
SIT formed for further investigation
DCP said the police also seized the car in which the girl was taken to Gujarat. He said: ‘A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed for detailed investigation into aspects of organized crime and human trafficking. We are interrogating the arrested accused.
