In Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, a woman and her daughter committed suicide by jumping in front of a train.

Bhadohi: A woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train along with her 2-year-old daughter in Bhadohi district of Uttar Pradesh. According to information provided by the police, the woman’s husband works in Surat, Gujarat and had returned home on the occasion of the festival. It is said that the woman also wanted to go to Surat with her husband. Police said that when her insistence to go to Surat with her husband was not fulfilled, this 25-year-old woman named Lakshmi Devi allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train along with her 2-year-old daughter.

‘Lakshmi Devi wanted to go to Surat with her husband’

Giving information about the incident, SHO Ramakant Yadav said that the woman jumped with her 2-year-old daughter on her lap in front of the Bapu Dham Express going from Muzaffarpur to Prayagraj on the railway track behind Unjh police station, due to which both of them died instantly. He said the woman’s husband Virendra Bind, a resident of Suriyawa police station area in Bhadohi district, works in Surat city. The police officer said Veeranjadra had returned home on the occasion of Diwali and was preparing to return to work once the festival was over. He said his wife Lakshmi Devi wanted to live in Surat with her husband and 2-year-old daughter Riashi.

She told her husband on the phone: ‘I’m going to take the train’

SHO said that on Lakshmi’s demand to take her to Surat, Virendra had said that when he rented a room, he would take her with him, but she was adamant to go ahead. After a dispute over this issue, Lakshmi left home with her daughter and when her husband called her and asked where she was going, she told him that she would die after being hit by a train at Suriyawa station. The SHO said the woman’s husband and family members went to Suriava to look for her, but the woman went in the opposite direction, crossed the Unjh police station limits and jumped in front of the Bapu Dham Express. He said the police sent the bodies of the deceased for autopsy. (Language)
