Court condemned murderer father
A Mumbai court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of murdering his son for refusing to call his second wife mother. Additional Sessions Judge SD Tavshikar on Monday convicted Salim Shaikh for the 2018 murder and said the prosecution had successfully proved that he was the “sole mastermind of the crime”. Six years after the murder incident, the court convicted the accused father.
He refused to call his second wife mother
The victim’s mother (Shaikh’s first wife) had filed a complaint that in August 2018, when her son Imran refused to call Salim Sheikh’s second wife as his mother, an altercation broke out between the two. According to the FIR, the dispute turned violent when Salim attacked Imran.
Injured by blows with scissors
Sensing danger, the complainant went to the police station for help. But when the police reached Salim’s house in Dongri area of south Mumbai, Salim had seriously injured Imran by attacking him with scissors.
Doctors pronounced him dead at the hospital.
According to the FIR lodged with the police, Imran was declared brought dead in the hospital. Salim Shaikh’s lawyer claimed that Imran was drunk and had committed suicide by injuring himself with a sharp weapon.
The court ignored the arguments.
However, the court ignored these arguments and said that if the victim had tried to commit suicide, her mother would not have gone to the police station for help. The court said that if he had committed suicide, his mother and other people (eyewitnesses) would have tried to stop him.
