Kuldevi of Mewar Rajgharana: The coronation of Vishwaraj Singh Mewar, a member of the erstwhile royal family of Mewar, took place at Prakash Mahal in Udaipur, Rajasthan. After completing the coronation ceremony, Vishvaraj Singh Mewar along with his entourage arrived at the City Palace of Udaipur to receive darshan of his clan’s goddess Dhuni Mata, but the gates of the City Palace were closed before he could arrive. The darshan was rejected and a ruckus broke out over the darshan of Dhuni Mata.

There has been a tradition in the Mewar royal family that the coronation ceremony of the member is performed as the new Diwan. In this ritual, the tilak is applied by cutting the thumb with a sword. After that, the darshan of Kul Devi Dhuni Mata is performed. After this, darshan of Ekling ji is performed. Therefore, Vishvaraj Singh had a Kul Devi Dhuni Darshan program at the City Palace.

There is a temple of Dhuni Mata in the premises of the City Palace, who is the family goddess of the Mewar royal family and this City Palace is under the control of Arvind Singh Mewar, brother of late Mahendra Singh Mewar. According to the will of late Bhagwat Singh Mewar, Arvind Singh calls himself the president of the Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation. In this regard, the Trust issued two general notices on Sunday evening. In another general information it was said that Vishvaraj is not a member of this trust. Considering the security at the Palace Museum on Monday, Vishvaraj Singh was prevented from receiving darshan of Kul Devi. So now a dispute has started in the family.

Darshan of Ekling Ji

It is believed that Maharana of Mewar was considered the Diwan of Eklingji and whose coronation takes place. After receiving darshan of Dhuni Mata, the priest himself gives him the Maharana staff, i.e. the ruler staff. In a way, Maharana’s recognition comes from this temple. That is why Vishvaraj Singh wanted to go to the temple after Raj Tilak in Chittor. Eklingji temple is also under this trust. Therefore, Arvind Singh Mewar banned Vishvaraj from entering the temple.

Ekalinga Temple Specialty

Eklingji Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the oldest temples in Udaipur district. It was built in 734 AD by Maharana Bappa Rawal, ruler of Udaipur. Who is considered the representative of Shri Eklingji. The two-story temple with a pyramidal roof and beautifully carved minarets has been rebuilt and expanded several times since its construction. In the main temple there is a black stone five-sided Shivalinga, which was founded by Maharana Raimalji. The main attraction of this grand temple is the 50 feet tall spire.
