Most of the country’s non-vegetarian food is consumed in South India. In this too, the name of Hyderabad and the entire Dravidian region around it is at the top. There is also a reason for this. It is said that people’s lifestyle and diet depend on the environment there. The same formula applies to this Dravidian region as well, but an important reason is also found in Shrimad Bhagwat Katha, written five and a half thousand years ago. This incident dates back to the time when this entire Dravidian region was deserted and only forests, bushes and wild animals lived here.
Before we go any further into the context, let us know that story. Actually, this story is from the last phase of the Dwapar era. At that time civil war broke out in the city of Dwarka. At that time all the Yaduvanshis died among themselves. However, among them, 10-20-50 Yaduvanshis fled south to the Dravidian region and started living there. Since this entire area was deserted at the time, these people survived for a few days by eating tubers and fruits and then began eating animals to stay alive.
Be non-vegetarian even if you don’t want to
It has been said that this was also the effect of Kaliyuga: when these people left Dwarka, they were vegetarians, but after reaching the Dravidian region, they had to reluctantly become non-vegetarians. The main reason for this is the lack of food grains and availability of animals due to the forested and hilly area. Not only this, because it was situated on the seashore, seafood was also available here in sufficient quantity. Due to this, people also adopted non-vegetarian foods. The situation is such that non-vegetarian food has become the favorite dish of the entire Dravidian region.
There are more shops in South India than in North India.
Comparatively, non-vegetarian shops will not be found in every street and town in North India. Rather, a special place is reserved for these types of stores. Whereas if you go to any city in the Dravidian region, including Hyderabad, you will find non-vegetarian shops on every corner. Not only this, the variety of non-veg products is available in the Dravidian region as compared to North India. In North India, non-veg products are prepared and eaten according to the tradition of a particular place, while in the Dravidian region, people prepare and eat non-veg products in different ways.
