In addition to Jio, Airtel, Voda, Elon Musk’s Starlink project and Amazon Kuiper have applied in India’s satellite internet market. Jio and Airtel have received the green signal from the telecom regulator to start the service. At the same time, Elon Musk’s Starlink and Amazon must complete compliance, after which they will also be allowed to launch the service. Starlink has said the company is willing to meet government compliance.

Elon Musk’s satellite communications company Starlink had applied to start satellite internet service in the country in October 2022. Earlier, the company had released the details, price, etc. related to booking satellite internet connection on their website, which was later removed by the company. Currently, satellite Internet service in India requires regulatory approval and network allocation.

Will you have to pay for Starlink?

The price of Starlink satellite service is not officially confirmed in India at this time. However, the former director of the company had said that during the first year the user will have to spend around Rs 1,58,000. At the same time, from the second year it will cost Rs 1,15,000. However, this expense will be covered by applying a 30 percent tax for the use of the service. During the first year, the user will have to spend on the purchase of a Starlink satellite receiver. Because of this, the user may incur higher expenses during the first year. According to the Starlink website, free satellite internet service will be provided to users as a trial for 1 month.

Jio and Airtel expenses

At the moment, it has also not been officially confirmed how much will have to be spent on satellite communication from Jio and Airtel. Both telecommunications companies provide land mobile service to users. Additionally, its fiber optic and aerial fiber broadband services are also available across India. How expensive or cheap these two companies’ plans will be compared to Elon Musk’s satellite service will only be known after the service launches.
