Will Mumbai be separated from Maharashtra? This issue is currently being discussed in full swing in Maharashtra politics. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has made a big promise in this regard. He has said that a conspiracy is being hatched to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra. But we will not allow this conspiracy to succeed. During this, he also targeted NITI Aayog.
Addressing an election rally in Mumbai, Uddhav said we will never allow NITI Aayog’s ploy to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra to come to fruition. He said NITI Aayog wants to reduce the importance of BMC. NITI Aayog’s plan for the development of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region is not correct. This will reduce the importance of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
We will cancel the proposal- Uddhav
Thackeray said that if we come to power, we, Maha Vikas Aghadi, will cancel the agreement on which there was an agreement between the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). Thackeray said the purpose of this deal is to reduce the importance of BMC. This is a ploy to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra.
Uddhav further said that the MMRDA and the World Economic Forum signed an MoU in September to make the Mumbai Metropolitan Region a global economic hub. He said this agreement was signed after the NITI Aayog report. Thackeray said NITI Aayog had prepared a report on the development of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Thackeray told the rally that the MVA’s first decision would be to end the Mahayuti government’s policies. He said Mahayuti is not against development but against destruction.
What is the proposal of NITI Aayog?
NITI Aayog has prepared a report for the development of Mumbai Metropolitan Region. In this report, the Commission sets the GDP target of Mumbai Metropolitan Region at $300 billion by 2030. Following the agreement, the World Economic Forum will assist the state government in developing MMR. The state government says WEF cooperation will help us promote MMR on global platforms. MMR is currently a $140 billion economy. Its per capita income is Rs 4,36,000. Between 2012 and 2020, the RMM had recorded a growth of 6.1 percent. The GDP of this region will reach around 1.5 trillion dollars in 2047.
