On the one hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) insists on organizing the Champions Trophy exclusively in its own country; On the other hand, the situation within the country is continually worsening, which affects cricket. The ‘A’ series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka had to be interrupted midway due to violent clashes between protesters and security personnel in the country’s capital Islamabad. PCB issued a statement on Tuesday, November 26, announcing that the last two matches of the series between Pakistan Shaheen and Sri Lanka A have been postponed for the time being.
For the last few days a series is being played between Pakistan Shaheen and Sri Lanka A in Rawalpindi in which the first four-day matches were played and then the ODI series started. Pakistan Shaheen won both the four-day matches and also took the lead in the series by winning the first match of the ODI series. There were 2 more matches left in the series but due to the violence that took place in the capital Islamabad in the last 48 hours, the board along with Sri Lanka Cricket decided to postpone this series for the time being. PCB said in the statement that new dates to complete the series will be decided soon.
