A case of fake ID fraud has come to light in Yamunanagar, Haryana. A woman working at a call center and her husband cheated a youth of Rs 25 lakh by making a fake ID. However, they both got caught up talking about the death of the girl of their dreams and the whole thing came to light. The young man was told that his wife Shivani had died and that he had written the will in her name. After this, the victim complained to the police and the cyber police arrested him. Both the husband and wife had fooled many people by making fake IDs with girls’ names. Police have currently remanded him in custody for three days, during which further revelations may be made.
Both the husband and wife, who were caught by the Yamunanagar cyber police, have made many people victims of their fraud by creating fake IDs. However, a youth from Bihar complained about them after looting Rs 25 lakh and ruining the husband and wife’s business.
Fake ID created in Vigo app
The accused husband and wife had created several fake IDs on the Vigo app, one of which was in the name of Shivani and according to her profile, she worked at Google and lived in California, United States. The second ID was in the name of the Red Queen, the third ID was in the name of Jiya and these IDs were being used by both the husband and the wife. His wife Parminder Kaur previously worked in a call center in Delhi and after marrying Gurpreet, came to Yamunanagar. Upon reaching here, both the husband and wife were working to deceive people through social media.
25 lakhs cheated using Shivani’s ID
These people made a young resident of Bihar their victim using Shivani’s ID and cheated the victim of Rs 25 lakh. He started a conversation with the guy by putting another girl’s photo in his DP and then started scamming him of money. Shivani also expressed her good profile in India. After this, their conversation progressed and then Shivani started demanding money from the victim on the pretext of being sick. The boy also started giving money in the name of help and after spending around Rs 25 lakh, he received a message that Shivani had died. He has written a will in the name of the victim and Jiya and money will have to be spent to get it. After this, the young victim became suspicious and informed the Yamunanagar SP about this matter. The matter reached the cyber police and both the husband and wife were arrested by the police.
There can be many revelations in the interrogation.
After arresting the husband and wife, the cyber police produced them before the court. A 3-day police remand has been received from the court. Cyber police believe that many more revelations can be made during interrogation, because these people have victimized many people with different IDs, which will only be revealed after interrogation. However, the police are also talking about recovering the Rs 25 lakh that these people had defrauded. Police say if these people have purchased any property with that money, it will also be seized.
