The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Sunday demanded an apology from party MP Supriya Sule. The party alleges that he spread hatred in the party by fielding Yugendra Pawar against his uncle and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar in the Baramati assembly seat. NCP spokesperson Amol Mitkari said Supriya Sule should apologize just as Ajit Pawar had expressed regret for fielding his wife Sunetra in the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Ajit Pawar defeated his nephew Yugendra Pawar by a huge margin in the Baramati assembly elections. Ajit Pawar contested from this seat for the eighth time and got 1,81,132 votes, while Yugendra Pawar got 80,233 votes. In this way, Ajit Pawar defeated his younger brother’s son Yugendra by a margin of 1,00,899 votes.

Mitkari’s goal in Congress

Mitkari also said that NCP-SP state president Jayant Patil was so disappointed with the election results that he did not attend the ceremony to collect the certificate from the officials. He also highlighted the need for Congress Party leaders to introspect on the results of the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Mitkari said this should be a moment of introspection for senior Congress leaders Balasaheb Thorat, Dheeraj Deshmukh and Yashomati Thakur.

The NCP leader said Congress leaders will have time to introspect for five years. He termed Congress leader Nana Patole’s election victory as surprising and said the party’s state president dreamed of becoming chief minister but won by a small margin.

Who won and in how many seats?
